Nagoya Castlenagoya-castle
Also known as: 名古屋城・名古屋のお城・Nagoyajo
The imposing castle built on the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu in the early seventeenth century as the seat of the Owari Tokugawa clan. Topped by the famous golden shachihoko ornaments and surrounded by impressive stone walls, it is the foremost symbol of the city. The original keep was lost in wartime bombings, but the magnificent Honmaru Goten palace has been rebuilt in authentic timber.
