Tokugawa Ieyasutokugawa-ieyasu

Also known as: 徳川家康・Ieyasu

The founder and first shogun of the Edo shogunate, who commissioned Nagoya Castle and installed his ninth son Yoshinao as lord of the Owari domain. His role in shaping the city through these decisions — backed by the massive tenkabushin construction project — makes him central to Nagoya's early modern history.
