Also known as: 関門・関門海峡・Kanmon Strait・Bakan Strait
A regional name built from the kan of Bakan, the old name of Shimonoseki, and the mon of Moji on the opposite shore. The strait between Honshu and Kyushu is called the Kanmon Strait, and was formerly also known as the Bakan Strait, the Shimonoseki Strait and the Anato Strait.
