GanryujimaGanryujima

Also known as: 巌流島・Ganryu Island

A small island off Hikoshima where Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro are said to have fought in 1612. Musashi's own Book of Five Rings does not mention the duel, and it is unclear how much is fact. Channel cutting from the Meiji era and land reclamation have enlarged the island to several times its size at the time of the duel.
