Akama ShrineAkama Jingu

Also known as: 赤間神宮・Akama-jingu・Amidaji Temple

The Shimonoseki shrine that enshrines Emperor Antoku, who was lost at Dannoura. It began as Amidaji Temple, built to guard his mausoleum, and became a shrine after the Meiji-era separation of Shinto and Buddhism. Its Suitenmon Gate is built in the dragon-palace style, and the grounds hold the Nanamori-zuka Mound and the Hoichi Hall.
