Murata SeifuMurata Seifu

Also known as: 村田清風

A Hagi domain statesman born in 1783 in Misumi village (now Misumi, Nagato) as the son of a local magistrate. In the Tenpo-era reforms he made rice, wax, salt and paper the pillars of the domain economy, laying the financial base from which Choshu later rose. After retiring to Misumi in 1845 he kept working to train talent.
