Also known as: 萩城・指月城・萩城跡・Shizuki Castle

Begun by Mori Terumoto in 1604 at the foot of Mt. Shizuki as the seat of the Hagi domain. It was a hillside-and-plain castle combining a lowland compound with a mountaintop stronghold, and its five-story keep stood about 14.4 m high. All the buildings were dismantled in 1874, leaving parts of the stone walls and moats as a national historic site.
