Kikuya ResidenceKikuya-ke Jutaku

Also known as: 菊屋家住宅・Kikuya House

The mansion of the Kikuya family, wealthy merchants who served the Hagi domain. Five buildings (main house, main storehouse, money storehouse, rice storehouse and boiler house) are Important Cultural Properties, among the oldest surviving large merchant houses from early Edo. The compound covers roughly 2,000 tsubo and served as lodging for the shogunate's inspectors.
