Matsudaira KatamoriMatsudaira Katamori
The 9th and effectively last lord of Aizu domain. As Kyoto Shugoshoku, the shogunate's military governor of Kyoto, he oversaw the Shinsengumi and cracked down on anti-shogunate radicals, but the Boshin War ended with him surrendering Tsuruga Castle after the Siege of Aizu. In his later years he served as chief priest of Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
