Numama

A district in eastern Zushi that forms the approach to Jinmuji temple. Its name is thought to derive from Sagami Province, Kamakura District, Numahama-go, recorded in the ancient Shosoin archives, reflecting a time when the area was a marshy inlet of the sea. The Tagoe River rises in Numama and flows through the city to Sagami Bay.
