Maeda ToshiieMaeda Toshiie
A samurai commander from Owari Province who served Oda Nobunaga and then Toyotomi Hideyoshi, earning the nickname Yari no Mataza for his skill with the spear. He entered Kanazawa Castle in 1583 and laid the foundations of the Maeda clan's rule over the Kaga Domain, later becoming one of the Five Regents of the Toyotomi government, but he died in 1599, before the domain system was formally established.
