Also known as: Shoko Shuseikan・Kyu-Shuseikan
“Shuseikan” refers to the entire cluster of Western-style factories — reverberatory furnaces, shipbuilding, spinning, and a glassworks — that Shimazu Nariakira built in the Iso district. The surviving machine-factory building now operates as the Shoko Shuseikan museum and became part of the “Sites of Meiji Industrial Revolution” UNESCO World Heritage listing in 2015.
