Kushida ShrineKushida-jinja

Also known as: 櫛田神社・お櫛田さん・博多総鎮守

The patron deity shrine of Hakata, affectionately known as 'O-Kushida-san.' It serves as the departure point and finish line of the Yamakasa Oiyama race. A kazariyama display float stands in the shrine grounds throughout the year as a symbol of the festival. The shrine is dedicated to three deities and is considered the spiritual center of the Hakata community.
