Fuku-Haku (Fukuoka–Hakata Dual City)Fukuhaku

Also known as: 福博・福博の二極

A portmanteau of Fukuoka and Hakata describing the city's historic dual-pole structure. The Naka River divided the western castle-town of Fukuoka from the eastern merchant district of Hakata. The two areas were unified administratively in 1889 under the name Fukuoka City.
