Kuroda NagamasaKuroda Nagamasa
Also known as: 黒田長政
A daimyo who was awarded the Chikuzen domain after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, becoming the first lord of Fukuoka Domain. He built Fukuoka Castle and developed the surrounding castle town, naming it 'Fukuoka' after his home village. This act gave the modern city its name.
