Fukuoka's premier entertainment district, occupying a slender sandbar formed between the Naka and Hakata rivers. The riverbanks come alive at night with rows of illuminated yatai street stalls. Historically, Nakasu marked the boundary between the Fukuoka castle-town (west) and the Hakata merchant district (east).
