Tokoji TempleTokoji

Also known as: 東光寺・Toko-ji・Tokoji

An Obaku Zen temple founded in 1691 by the third lord, Mori Yoshinari. Its founding priest was a monk from Hagi. Four buildings (the outer gate, main gate, bell tower and main hall) are Important Cultural Properties, and behind the hall lie the Mori tombs of the odd-numbered lords from the 3rd to the 11th, lined with more than 500 stone lanterns donated by retainers.
