Mishima cattleMishima-ushi

Also known as: 見島ウシ・見島牛・Mishima Ushi

A native breed kept for farm work since ancient times on Mishima, an island off Hagi. It kept the bloodline of Japanese native cattle free of foreign breeds, and its home area was designated a national natural monument in 1928; it is said to be the only cattle natural monument in Japan.
