History・Zushi & Hayama

Nagae-Sakurayama Kofun Group

Two keyhole-shaped kofun, or burial mounds, sitting on a ridge straddling the border between Zushi's Sakurayama and Hayama's Nagae districts. Mound No. 1 measures 91.3 meters long and Mound No. 2 about 88 meters, making them among the largest in Kanagawa Prefecture; both are estimated to date to the early Kofun period, the 4th century, and are a designated national historic site.
