Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion)Kinkaku-ji
Also known as: Rokuon-ji・Kinkaku・金閣寺・鹿苑寺
Formally Rokuon-ji, this Rinzai temple of the Shokoku-ji school grew from a mountain villa of the third Muromachi shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Its gold-leaf reliquary hall, the Kinkaku, is a World Heritage component site.
