Ryoan-jiRyoan-ji

Also known as: Rock Garden・石庭・龍安寺

A Rinzai Zen temple in Ukyo Ward and a component of the World Heritage "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto." Its walled, rectangular garden before the abbot's quarters spreads white gravel and sets fifteen stones in scattered groups, prized worldwide as a defining example of the dry-landscape style.
