Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion)Ginkaku-ji

Also known as: Jisho-ji・Ginkaku・銀閣寺・慈照寺

Formally Jisho-ji, the temple began as the Higashiyama retreat of the eighth Muromachi shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, and epitomizes Higashiyama culture. A World Heritage site, it is famed for the Kogetsudai sand cone and Ginshadan sand sea.
