Anglo-Satsuma WarSatsu-Ei Sensō

Triggered by the 1862 Namamugi Incident, this war broke out the following year when seven British warships arrived in Kagoshima Bay. Satsuma lost about a tenth of the castle town to fire but inflicted serious damage on the British fleet in return, and paradoxically the clash led the two sides to grow closer afterward.
