A Rinzai Zen temple in Hakata-ku founded by the monk Enni (Shoichi Kokushi) after he returned from Song Dynasty China. Tradition credits Enni with introducing udon, manjū sweets, and milling techniques to Japan. A stone monument on the grounds marks it as the 'Origin of Udon and Soba.' The temple also has a claimed connection to the origin of the Yamakasa festival.
