An island in Nagato's Kita-Nagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park where cliffs, sea caves, stone pillars and reefs stretch for about 16 km, earning the nickname the "Alps of the Sea". It was designated a national place of scenic beauty and natural monument in 1926, and, though an island, can be reached by car.
