Gamo UjisatoGamō Ujisato

A Sengoku-era daimyo who entered Aizu in 1590 on Toyotomi Hideyoshi's orders. He renamed the town from Kurokawa to Wakamatsu and built a seven-story keep at what became Tsuruga Castle, and he is credited with bringing in craftsmen from his home province of Omi who laid the foundations of the Aizu lacquerware and Aizu cotton industries.
