Aizu Painted Candle FestivalAizu E-rōsoku Matsuri

Also known as: Yukihotaru

A winter festival held every February at Tsuruga Castle and the Oyakuen garden, nicknamed "Yukihotaru" (snow firefly), a name chosen through a public naming contest when the festival was first held in 2000. Its highlight is the sight of thousands of hand-painted Aizu candles lit across the snow.
