Suhotei FestivalSuhotei-sai

Also known as: 数方庭祭・Suhotei summer festival

A summer festival at Iminomiya Shrine in Chofu, held every year from August 7 to 13. Men shoulder giant bamboo banners while women carry lanterns called kiriko, and the procession circles the demon stone in the shrine grounds. It is a prefecturally designated Intangible Folk Cultural Property, nicknamed the strangest festival under heaven.
