Tenryu-jiTenryu-ji

Also known as: 天龍寺

Head temple of the Tenryu-ji branch of Rinzai Zen in Arashiyama, Ukyo Ward, and a component of the World Heritage "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto." It is said to have been founded by Ashikaga Takauji to console the soul of Emperor Go-Daigo, and its Sogenchi garden by Muso Soseki, framing Arashiyama, is a Special Place of Scenic Beauty.
