Also known as: Yuki-tsuri Rope Work
A snow-country gardening technique in which ropes are strung radially from a central pole down to a tree's branches to keep them from snapping under the weight of snow. At Kenrokuen the work traditionally begins on November 1 each year, starting with the Karasaki pine, and is reported in the news as the seasonal marker for the arrival of winter.
