Muro SaiseiMuro Saisei

A poet and novelist born in Kanazawa in 1889. Shortly after birth he was adopted by the head priest of Unpo-in temple beside the Sai River, and he later took the pen name Saisei, referencing his upbringing on the west side of that same river. His best-known poem, Shokei Ijo, collected in Jojo Shokyokushu, is featured in school textbooks, making him arguably the most widely recognized of Kanazawa's three great writers.
