Bamboo Garden

Behind the main hall of Hokokuji Temple lies a grove of roughly 2,000 moso bamboo stalks. At the far end sits the teahouse Kyukoan, where visitors can sip matcha while surrounded by the bamboo. Hokokuji itself was founded in 1334 and has ties to the Ashikaga and Uesugi clans.
