Terukuni ShrineTerukuni Jinja

Terukuni Shrine enshrines Shimazu Nariakira, who was granted a divine title by imperial decree in 1863 and honored with this shrine the following year. Standing in central Kagoshima, its main hall has burned down twice — once in the fighting of the 1877 Satsuma Rebellion and again in World War II air raids — and was rebuilt both times.
