Kin-in (Gold Seal — Kan no Wa no Na no Kokuo)Kin-in
Also known as: 金印・漢委奴国王・金印「漢委奴国王」
A small solid-gold seal bearing five Chinese characters reading 'Kan no Wa no Na no Kokuo' (meaning: King of the Na state of Wa), traditionally said to have been unearthed on Shikanoshima island in Hakata Bay. According to the Hou Han Shu (Book of Later Han), it was granted by Emperor Guangwu of Han to an envoy from the state of Na in 57 CE. Designated a National Treasure and permanently housed at Fukuoka City Museum.
