Hagi Natsumikan (Summer Orange)Hagi no Natsumikan

Also known as: 萩の夏みかん・夏みかん・ナツダイダイ・Natsumikan・summer orange

The citrus that Hagi has designated its city fruit and a famous local product. It is said to have reached Hagi around 1804 from an original tree at Ohibi in Senzaki, Nagato, and spread in the early Meiji period when Obata Takamasa handed out saplings as a livelihood measure for impoverished samurai.
