Sarusawa Pond

Dug by Kofuku-ji in 749 as a pond for releasing captive animals, Sarusawa Pond is counted among the Eight Views of the Southern Capital. Usame Shrine on its bank faces away from the water, following a legend about a court lady who drowned herself there.
