Oni Manjuoni-manju

Also known as: 鬼まんじゅう・devil bun・oni steamed cake

A humble steamed confection from the Tokai region made by folding chunky cubes of sweet potato into a simple wheat-starch dough before steaming. The lumpy, knobby exterior, studded with golden potato pieces, is said to resemble the spiked club of a demon (oni), giving the treat its memorable name.
