Oura Church
Oura Church was built in 1864 through the efforts of the French missionary Father Bernard Petitjean, among others. It is considered the oldest surviving Christian church building in Japan and holds National Treasure status. In 1865 it became the site of the 'Discovery of Hidden Christians,' when believers from Urakami revealed their faith to Petitjean.
