Nanzen-jiNanzen-ji

Also known as: Suirokaku・水路閣・南禅寺

Head temple of the Nanzen-ji branch of Rinzai Zen, in Sakyo Ward. It is known for the sanmon gate (Tenka Ryumon), the stage for Ishikawa Goemon's "What a view!" pose in kabuki, and for the brick-arch Suirokaku aqueduct carrying the Lake Biwa Canal across its grounds, now a popular photo spot.
