Daigo-jiDaigo-ji

Also known as: 醍醐寺

A large Shingon temple in Fushimi Ward that climbs from the valley floor up Mount Daigo. A World Heritage component site, its grounds hold a five-storey pagoda built in 951 (Heian period). The site is also remembered for the lavish cherry-blossom banquet Toyotomi Hideyoshi held here late in life, the "Daigo blossom viewing."
