Ohi-yakiOhi-yaki

Also known as: Ohi Ware

A branch tradition of Raku ware pottery, said to have begun in 1666 when the 5th Kaga lord Maeda Tsunanori invited the Kyoto tea master Sen-so, 4th-generation head of the Urasenke school, to serve as tea master, and the potter Haji Chozaemon accompanied him. Known for its amber-colored glaze, it has continued as the Maeda family's official kiln ever since.
