Kaga Hosho NohKaga Hosho

Also known as: Kaga Hosho

A tradition of Hosho-school Noh theater that took root in Kanazawa after the 5th Kaga lord Maeda Tsunanori, influenced by shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi's own patronage of the Hosho school, promoted it among domain samurai and encouraged commoners to study it as well. It was designated an intangible cultural asset of Kanazawa city in 1950, and the Kanazawa Noh Association still stages performances today.
