Ishikawa-mon GateIshikawa-mon

Also known as: Ishikawa Gate

A masugata-style defensive gate at the rear entrance to Kanazawa Castle, combining an outer koma-mon gate with an inner two-story yagura turret gate. It burned down completely in a major fire in 1759, was rebuilt in 1788, and was designated a National Important Cultural Property on August 29, 1950, making it one of the few Edo-period structures still standing within the castle grounds.
