Togo HeihachiroTōgō Heihachirō

Also known as: Nelson of the East

A naval officer who commanded the Combined Fleet to victory over Russia's Baltic Fleet at the Battle of Tsushima in 1905, using the crossing-the-T maneuver later nicknamed the “Togo Turn.” Like Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi, he was born in the Kajiya-cho neighborhood of Kagoshima's old castle town.
