Also known as: Nishi-Kagoshima Station

The main gateway station to Kagoshima, operated by JR Kyushu. It was renamed from Nishi-Kagoshima Station to its current name in 2004 when the Kyushu Shinkansen partially opened. As the terminus of the connected San'yo-Kyushu Shinkansen line running all the way from Shin-Osaka, it is also Japan's southernmost shinkansen station.
