Hakata Dontaku Port FestivalHakata Dontaku Minato Matsuri

Also known as: 博多どんたく・博多どんたく港まつり・どんたく

A large-scale parade festival held on May 3 and 4 as part of Japan's Golden Week. Participants dance through the streets while clapping shamoji (rice paddles), a tradition unique to this festival. It is among Japan's largest festivals by attendance and has roots in the traditional New Year blessing performance Hakata Matsubayashi.
