Taineiji TempleTaineiji

Also known as: 大寧寺・Taineiji

In 1551 Ouchi Yoshitaka, lord of Suo-Yamaguchi, was betrayed by his retainer Sue Harukata, failed to escape by sea to Kyushu from Senzaki, and is said to have taken his own life at Taineiji in Yumoto. The Ouchi, called the strongest in western Japan, ended here. The grounds hold Sugatami Pond, Banjaku Bridge and the graves of Yoshitaka and his retainers.
