ミヤマキリシマMiyama Kirishima azalea
Aso City's official tree, a low shrub in the azalea family known for turning the slopes of Aso's outer rim and the Kuju mountains pink with blossom clusters in early summer. It stands alongside the city flower, rindou gentian, and the city bird, the green pheasant, as a municipal symbol.
