Shiba GoroShiba Gorō
A military officer born the fifth son of an Aizu samurai family in the castle town of Wakamatsu. After losing his grandmother, mother, and sisters during the Boshin War, he became an army officer and, during the Boxer Rebellion, commanded the defense of the foreign legations in Beijing, earning praise from every nation involved.
