A papier-mache toy cow, painted red, from the Aizu region, traditionally kept as a charm to ward off illness in children. The character is said to originate from a legend tied to the rebuilding of Enzoji Temple in the town of Yanaizu, while its mass production as a papier-mache craft is credited to the papercraft techniques Gamo Ujisato introduced to promote local industry.
